After weeks of discussing the possible postponement in implementing of the liberalization of domestically produced natural gas for household consumers, the Romanian Government decided to comply with the initial deadline – 1 April 2017.
According to the statement from the Ministry of Energy, as of 1 April 2017, the acquisition price of domestic natural gas will be liberalized, which represents only one element in the final gas price paid by household consumers, besides the transportation, distribution, storage and supply fees. The liberalization of the gas market is needed in order to reach a competitive, transparent and balanced environment for the operators on the market and for the end consumers.
