President of Turkish Wind Energy Association (TUREB) Mustafa Serdar Ataseven said that Turkey’s installed capacity in wind power reached 6,872 MW at the end of 2017, out of which 766 MW was installed during 2017.
Ataseven stated that 80 % of the total wind capacity is located in the Aegean and Marmara regions of the country, adding that Turkey still has potential for further increase of its windd power capacity. With the newly awarded pre-licenses, Turkey will be able to use areas where wind potential is not as high as previously awarded tenders, known as “secondary wind potential areas”.
