An Action Plan regarding the measures for the security of gas supply, published by the Romanian Ministry of Energy, revealed that Romania plans to sign a Memorandum of Understanding with Serbia regarding the construction of natural gas interconnection between the two countries (Arad-Mokrin pipeline), which should be completed by 2026.
According to the plan, the analyzed variant for gas export to Serbia is to take over the natural gas from the future BRHA gas pipeline and the closest point of the BRHA pipeline to the border between Romania and Serbia is Mokrin. The interconnection of the national transport system for natural gas with the similar system in Serbia implies the building of a pipeline between Arad and Mokrin with the length of approximately 80 kilometers.
