The Greek Government and state-controlled Public Power Corporation (PPC) are close to reaching an agreement with country’s creditors on the list of the company’s coal-fired units that will be put for sale in accordance with the bailout agreement.
According to sources, two ageing units with total power output of 600 MW at TPP Amynteo, which were proposed by PPC, are not on the list. The European Commission insisted that units III and IV at thermal power plant Megalopoli must be included in the list, which has been met with strong opposition by the company since Megalopoli IV is one of its most modern units, but it is willing to part with unit III of the plant.
