Nuclearelectrica, the operator of sole Romanian nuclear power plant Cernavoda, announced that it plans to invest about 63 million euros in 2017.
The majority of investments, some 87 %, will be allocated into maintenance and modernization of the existing two nuclear reactors at NPP Cernavoda. The company also announced that it will continue with the construction of spent fuel storage facility, as well as invest in detritiation facility. The 2017 investment plan also includes the completion of studies on life extension of unit 1 by re-tubing and upgrading its main systems and the investment of 2.9 million euros in Pitesti nuclear fuel factory.
