Electricity consumption at the distribution level in Montenegro is reaching absolute records in recent days. Montenegrin distribution system operator CEDIS announced that electricity supplied to the distribution network in the last ten days amounted to 95.174 million kWh, which is 21 % more than in the same period last year.
The statement from CEDIS said that highest daily consumption was recorded on 10 January and it amounted to 11.3 million kWh, which is 53 % more than on the same day in 2016. Extremely low temperatures and record consumption of electricity are endangering the national electricity system, which is operating under heavy load in recent days. CEDIS appealed to the rational use of electricity in the coming days in order to maintain the stability of the system and avoid disruptions in electricity supply due to network overload.
