General Manager of Nuclearelectrica, a company that operates Romanian sole nuclear power plant Cernavoda, Daniela Lulache said in a press conference that Ordinary General Meeting of the company’s shareholders has approved the resumption of negotiations on the construction of units 3 and 4 with Chinese company CGN for the next month.
According to Lulache, reactors 3 and 4 at NPP Cernavoda are absolutely mandatory for the country’s energy independence and energy security and it is absolutely essential for the Romanian state to define its role, contribution and support in this project. The negotiations with Chinese partners should last for six months. At the same time, she added that it is essential that the decision to extend the life of unit 1 to be taken by the end of this year, otherwise it will be too late.
