According to the data published by the International Energy Agency (IEA), Turkey has imported 46.164 billion cubic meters of natural gas in 2016, which is 2.2 billion cubic meters less than 48.266 billion cubic meters of gas imported in the previous year.
The largest drop was recorded in natural gas imports from Russia, which decreased by 2.25 billion cubic meters, dropping from 26.623 to 24.373 billion cubic meters in 2016. Gas imports from Iran slightly decreased, from 7.926 billion cubic meters in 2015 to 7.704 billion cubic meters last year. On the other hand, gas imports from Azerbaijan increased by 312 million cubic meters in 2016, reaching a total of 6.48 billion cubic meters of gas.
