Bulgarian state-owned mining company Mini Maritsa East announced that it has produced 30.3 million tons of coal in 2017, which is 2.8 million tons above the annual plan.
The statement from the company said that the increased output in 2017 is due to extreme weather conditions in January and February, when the company had to boost production in order to meet the demand of thermal power plants which worked at full capacity. Troyanovo-1 coalmine produced 13.2 million tons of coal in 2017, which is the record in the mine’s 65-year history.
