According to Romanian media, MET Romania will acquire 100 % stake of RWE Energie, a subsidiary of German RWE. The transaction is expected to be formalized in the following days.
With this acquisition, MET Romania will also take over around 400 electricity supply contracts, which will increase its share in the Romanian retail electricity market to 9.8 %. According to data published by the National Regulatory Authority for Energy (ANRE), in the first two months of 2018, MET’s market share on the competitive market stood at 4.11 %, while RWE’s was 4.91 %. Regarding the universal supply market, the shares stood at 3.09 % and 3.69 %, respectively.
