Hydropower plant Djerdap 2, operated by Serbian state-owned power utility EPS, has set a new monthly electricity production record in January by generating 170,210 MWh of electricity, which is 55 % or 60,210 MWh more than planned for this month,
Director of Production at HPP Djerdap complex Radmilo Nikolic said that this is the highest monthly production since the plant’s commissioning in 1985, achieved mostly due to ideal water flow of the Danube which ranged between 6,200 and 8,100 cubic meters per second. The highest daily production in January amounted to 6,020 MWh, which is just 120 MWh shy of the absolute daily record of 6,140 MWh.
