Catastrophic floods hit Albania in the past few days, with more than 4,700 households suffering flood damage, whilst 127,000 households are without electricity.
Several rivers are at risk of overflowing in the Gjirokastra, Fier and Vlora districts in the south of the country. The Ministry of Interior Affairs said that northwestern Shkodra region was seeing the most floods, while mudslides temporarily blocked traffic in southern Albania. The Vjosa river is the south of Albania is seen as the biggest risk, as its waters have been rising to unprecedented levels.
