In March 2015, the Regional Court in Bratislava ruled that the contract for the operation of hydropower plant Gabcikovo is invalid, because instead of direct agreement with the company Slovenske Elektrarne (SEAS), a public tender should have been announced.
SEAS filed an appeal to the Supreme Court which has rejected the appeal yesterday, thus ending almost ten-years long SEAS’ fight for the control over HPP Gabcikovo. The Slovak Public Procurement Office (UVO) challenged the validity of the contract for operation of HPP Gabcikovo in March 2007. However, the District Court Bratislava II turned down the lawsuit in 2013, which was later submitted to the Regional Court in Bratislava.
