Serbian state-owned power utility EPS plans to invest 4.9 billion euros by 2027 in the introduction of modern technology, increasing energy efficiency, building new, modern electricity generation facilities and reconstructing the old ones.
According to EPS representatives, the company generates about 70 % of electricity from lignite in thermal power plants and in order to ensure the stability of production in the coming decades, large capital investments, which should provide the highest possible energy efficiency and environmental protection, are planned. By 2025, EPS will invest over 600 million euros in environmental protection projects only.
