Head of Turkish Energy Market Regulatory Authority (EPDK) Mustafa Yilmaz said that EPDK is working towards expanding the eligibility of consumers to qualify for cheaper electricity.
Yilmaz told to the press that he believes that the limit for eligibility should be lowered in the future, but the background for this move has to be well prepared. EPDK is currently in preparations for its reduction and both Turkish electricity exchange EPIAS and electricity transmission system operator TEIAS should prepare for a zero limit market. He also warned consumers to be very careful in choosing their supplier and to consider all aspects of their agreement conditions once they become eligible consumers. Yilmaz added that it is yet uncertain to what level the limit for eligibility will be lowered in the upcoming meeting in January 2017.
