Albania, 14.06. TAP to boost country’s geostrategic importance

Country Manager of TAP AG, a company in charge of the construction and operation of Trans-Adriatic gas pipeline (TAP), in Albania Shkelqim Bozgo said in an interview that TAP is very important project for Europe, but its is quite much important for Albania since it is the first time that the country is included in the European gas map, thus increasing the regional and geostrategic importance of the country and contributing to commercial and physical integration of Albania in Europe. He also reiterated that the investments in Albania as part of the implementation of TAP project will amount to 1.5 billion euros.
Apart from the positive impact on Albanian economy, TAP project plays a very important role in improving the living conditions, mainly in communities along and near the pipeline route. The presence and the opportunity to access TAP gas has formed the concrete basis for the development of the network infrastructure and domestic gas market, contributing significantly to country’s energy balance and the entire domestic energy market. Bozgo explained that once TAP becomes operational in 2020, any interested party that is ready to buy or sell gas will make these transactions through TAP’s infrastructure.
